McDonald Hopkins attorneys play key roles in Urban Land Institute's two-day Technical Assistance Panel

CLEVELAND – McDonald Hopkins member Teresa Metcalf Beasley was among the 10 professionals who participated in the Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) hosted by the Cleveland District Council of the Urban Land Institute on November 3-4 in conjunction with the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Metroparks, Port of Cleveland and Flats Forward.

The successful two-day event brought together panelists in a working group to discuss important issues involving bulkhead management practices that can be adopted to remove barriers to private development, encourage beneficial enhancements to privately-owned riverfront properties, and enhance public access and utilization to the riverfront while continuing to effectively service the industry in the valley.

“One of the best aspects about this TAP was it brought together so many key stakeholders and experts, allowing us to ask questions and get immediate answers and feedback,” said McDonald Hopkins tax credit finance and commercial real estate associate Kirstyn Wildey, who planned the event as part of her role serving on the Urban Land Institute’s Outreach Committee. “We planned the TAP with the goal of meeting the needs of the sponsors by bringing together expert panelists and engaged stakeholders to really dig into the issues and provide comprehensive solutions. Experts from other cities also participated, sharing insights into how they have tackled similar problems and bringing new ideas to the table.

“Seeing everyone come together was a great experience. The discussions highlighted the complexity of bulkhead management practices and implications for economic development in the Greater Cleveland Area.”
