McDonald Hopkins welcomes Nathan Hudak to Business Department and Public Law team

CLEVELAND — Former Cleveland Municipal Court judge Nathan J. Hudak has joined the Cleveland office of McDonald Hopkins LLC as Counsel in the Public Law Practice Group.

Hudak, whose work at the firm will focus primarily in the areas of public law, public finance and  economic development, was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Cleveland Municipal Court by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in April 2021. He served as one of 12 Municipal Court judges until January 3, 2022, managing a full docket of criminal and civil legal proceedings. .

Prior to his judicial appointment, Hudak served as a Senior Manager for Destination Cleveland, where he was a member of their convention sales team. In this role, he worked to promote Cleveland as an outstanding business meeting and tourism destination in order to grow the region’s economy.

Hudak practiced law from 2007 to 2015 as a business attorney at Cowden & Humphrey Co. LPA in Cleveland, where he specialized in counseling clients on transactional legal matters related to corporate law and governance, real estate and development, entrepreneurial services, finance, and mergers and acquisitions..

Hudak graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2006 with a joint JD/MBA degree.  He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame in 2000 with a major in Finance. 

Hudak is a graduate of Holy Name High School and currently serves on their advisory board.  He has previously served on the board of trustees for MidTown Cleveland, Inc. and volunteered as a mentor with  College Now Greater Cleveland. He is also a past graduate of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance- City Advocates program and the Cleveland Bridge Builders leadership development program.
