Blog Post

On July 20, 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the, “General and Targeted Distribution Post-Payment Notice of Reporting Requirements,” on its CARES Act Provider Relief Fund (PRF) website. This notice is intended for healthcare providers who received one or more General or Targeted Distribution payments exceeding $10,000.

The notice applies to providers who received PRF payments from the following distributions:

General Distributions:

  • Initial Medicare Distribution
  • Additional Medicare Distribution
  • Medicaid, Dental & CHIP Distribution

Targeted Distributions:

  • High Impact Area Distribution
  • Rural Distribution
  • Skilled Nursing Facilities Distribution
  • Indian Health Service Distribution
  • Safety Net Hospital Distribution

The notice provides that HHS will release specific reporting requirements by August 17, 2020, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) website. These instructions will include a data collection template so that providers can better ensure compliance with each applicable PRF payment’s Terms and Conditions as required by the CARES Act. A reporting system will be available for recipients on October 1, 2020. All recipients must report within 45 days after the end of calendar year 2020 on their expenditures for the period ending December 31, 2020.

McDonald Hopkins will continue to monitor updates from HHS on these provider reporting requirements.
